Our Green Schools committee facilitated some great activities during climate action week to draw our attention to the challenges facing our world . They ran a whole school art competition where we were invited to create awareness posters as to the causes and what we can do to help. 4th Class put all their persuasive writing skills to task and compiled very persuasive arguments to make us sit up and take action. The Green Schools committee planted a native oak and ash tree in our school grounds and 4th class also investigated solar energy power as a powerful alternative to burning fossil fuels

Green School Activities
Since September we have been busy monitoring our school bins reminding everyone of what needs to go in the correct bins! One of our big achievements has been a major planting programme around our school following our workshop with Paddy Madden. We have planted thirty trees and a huge hedgerow around our playing pitch. Many thanks to our Parents Association for supporting all our projects. For Spring all classes are involved in a large planting rota-starting with planting potatoes. As part of our global initiatives during December we collected clothes and toys for children in Athens. We have also been keeing in touch with a family in Uganda who previously attended our school. Have a look at our pictures ......
